3 Workplace Productivity Tips You Should Know.jpg

Having the staff spend long hours in the workplace isn’t a rare sight these days. Even so, ensuring that most of the time is utilized productively is another matter altogether. As a corporate tenant, you need to remember that it’s not the number of hours your employees put into work that matter, but it’s the amount of work they put into those hours that count. Wish you could get more quality work done each work day? Here are some helpful tips that can help you boost workplace productivity:

1. Create a Conducive Working Environment

Here are some strategies that corporate tenants can adopt to achieve this:

  • Open windows, plants, and air Fresheners: Studies show that offices with an open feel usually have a positive impact on the employees’ mood. Open windows will provide sufficient light, plants (especially flowers) will provide a more aesthetically pleasing environment, while air fresheners will provide a sweet and fresh smell.

  • Adopt open floor plans: Unlike closed floor plans, open floor plans encourage collaboration of workers. This helps boost productivity as staff can be able to work together, share ideas and learn from each other. A private space can be created to facilitate employees who handle confidential tasks.

  • Control background noise: While working in an extremely noisy environment can negatively affect productivity, a quiet space can also seem boring to some employees. Encourage use of headphones as they can help employees create the right mood for them to work.

  • Integrate technology: You can greatly improve productivity by adopting the latest technologies. Ditch conventional desktops for smarter technologies such as tablets and laptops. Ensure that there are enough power outlets and Ethernet ports.

  • Choose an ideal location: Ensure that your office is easily accessible by employees, suppliers, clients and customers. Also ensure that it is also in close proximity to basic businesses such as grocery stores, gas stations, drug stores, etc.

2. Motivate your Employees

This can be achieved through:

  • Empowering employees with knowledge. Regular training will equip them with the right skills and boost their confidence.

  • Creating an environment that boosts employee socialization.

  • Considering employees’ needs and being attentive to their concerns.

  • Treating all employees equally.

  • Offering incentives to hardworking employees will motivate others to work hard.

  • Celebrating victories however small they may be.

3. Create a Homely Environment

Statistics by the Bureau of Labor Statistics reveal that employees spend an average of 8.8 hours a day in their workplaces. To ensure that workers are comfortable at the work place, here are a few things your office should offer:

  • Cafeteria or office kitchen.

  • Recreational areas i.e. gym, computer room, library, etc.

  • Ample parking and cycle shelters.

Creating a conducive work environment and keeping workers motivated not only helps to boost workplace productivity, but it also helps corporate tenants to achieve two things – keeping their customers happy and improving sales. It’s a win-win situation.
